About the role#
This is a full-time, paid internship based in Toronto. You will join the Optical PHY team to support the design and implementation of high-speed optical transceivers for communication infrastructure. This role involves working with senior engineers on circuits that power data centers and cloud computing platforms.
What you'll do#
- Support the analog design team with architectural exploration and circuit implementation for blocks like PLLs, ADCs, regulators, and transmitters.
- Assist in design verification using tools such as SPICE, Spectre, and MATLAB.
- Collaborate with layout, verification, and application teams to deliver analog IP from concept to tape-out.
- Participate in lab bring-up and debugging activities.
- Document findings and contribute to design reviews while learning industry best practices.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Master’s or PhD in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Coursework or project experience in analog or mixed-signal circuit design.
- Familiarity with analog design tools like Virtuoso, Spectre, and ADE.
- A basic understanding of signal integrity, noise reduction, and clock generation.
- Exposure to design concepts such as oscillators and SerDes is a plus.
- Interest in learning about FinFET layout considerations.
