About the role#
The Pharmacist Intern works alongside pharmacists and technicians to deliver patient care within a clinical setting. This is a full-time, paid position based in Huntington, West Virginia. Interns are expected to work a minimum of 10 hours per week, including two weekend shifts per month.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the prescription filling process, including managing drug orders, transfers, and voicemails under pharmacist supervision.
- Communicate clearly with patients, clinicians, and medical providers to clarify orders and coordinate care.
- Provide patient information and counseling.
- Help patients navigate medication affordability options.
- Perform inventory management duties, including controlled substances and quarterly or annual counts.
- Assist with immunizations and pharmacy compounding as permitted by law.
- Handle point-of-sale tasks and participate in staff meetings.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a School of Pharmacy.
- Retail pharmacy experience is preferred.
- Ability to manage prescription drug orders and assist with clinical documentation.
- Knowledge of medication affordability options and immunization procedures.
