About the role#
The Student Radiology Tech position offers hands-on experience in an orthopedic clinic. You will work alongside experienced technologists to develop your skills in positioning, imaging techniques, and image evaluation. This is a part-time role based at the Lowry clinic, primarily scheduled for Tuesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
What you'll do#
- Assist with and perform X-ray examinations under supervision.
- Prepare and position patients for exams while verifying orders.
- Operate radiographic and processing equipment.
- Review images for accuracy and submit them to providers.
- Maintain clean, stocked, and organized X-ray rooms.
- Handle department tasks during downtime, such as scanning records into the EMR system or preparing X-ray CDs.
- Follow all patient confidentiality, safety, and clinic policies.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an accredited Radiologic Technology program and must be in good standing.
- Completion of clinical education relevant to these duties.
- Basic knowledge of anatomy, radiographic positioning, radiation safety, and ALARA principles.
- Ability to communicate clearly and provide care to a diverse patient population.
- Willingness to learn and accept feedback from supervisors.
- Experience with EMR and PACS systems is preferred but not required.
