About the role#
As a Mechanical Engineer Co-op, you will support the engineering group at Powerex, Inc. You will work alongside mechanical and electrical engineers to solve manufacturing issues and design new products. This role provides exposure to the full design process, from concept to production. You will gain experience across office, engineering lab, and manufacturing environments while working on projects that scale in complexity based on your experience level.
What you'll do#
- Support team members with setting up, instrumenting, and documenting test products, including data acquisition and analysis.
- Create and maintain engineering drawings.
- Analyze returned goods to determine causes of failure and warranty status.
- Conduct sound testing on products within an anechoic sound room.
- Modify existing CAD models with guidance from senior engineers.
- Execute and implement Engineering Change Notices.
- Design and implement projects to improve existing product lines.
- Participate in new product development, including concept ideation, prototyping, and testing.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one year of engineering-focused higher education by the start of the co-op.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to work both independently and in teams.
- Experience with basic laboratory electronic equipment is preferred.
- CAD experience is preferred.
