About the role#
As a Civil Engineer Intern, you will work with our engineering team on real-world projects. You will assist with various tasks while learning about the infrastructure and construction industry. Work is performed under the direction of a Project Engineer who provides guidance and reviews your progress.
What you'll do#
- Conduct and prepare for field inspections.
- Perform engineering analyses and design work.
- Handle data reduction and reporting.
- Prepare reports, studies, and related documents.
- Review engineering plans and reports.
- Participate in technical review meetings with engineering and planning staff.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a degree in civil engineering, with a focus on structural or geotechnical engineering preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and engineering software.
- Understanding of construction practices including concrete, steel, carpentry, and welding.
- Strong grasp of higher-level mathematics like algebra, trigonometry, geometry, and calculus.
- Technical writing skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to define problems, interpret data, and draw valid conclusions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Ability to work independently as a self-starter.

- Ability to obtain medical certifications in bloodborne pathogens, first aid, CPR, and emergency oxygen if performing fieldwork.
Location & details#
- Location: Paducah, Kentucky.
- Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Full-time.
- Compensation: $21 to $25 per hour, depending on education and experience.
- This position requires the ability to walk in rugged conditions and work in adverse weather when in the field. You may need to lift up to 50 pounds.
