About the role#
As a Refining Mechanical Engineer intern, you will gain hands-on experience within a refinery environment. You will work alongside professionals to understand how engineering disciplines integrate to support refinery operations. This role provides exposure to industry codes and best practices while building your technical and professional presentation skills.
What you'll do#
Depending on your assigned team, you will focus on project management or equipment reliability. Project engineers develop project scopes, estimates, and schedules. You will oversee design efforts and assist throughout the construction process. Reliability engineers support the maintenance department by improving equipment performance. This includes performing root cause failure analysis, optimizing maintenance programs for rotating equipment like pumps and compressors, and troubleshooting fixed equipment such as pressure vessels, heat exchangers, and piping systems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Mechanical Engineering degree program
- Strong academic performance
- A valid driver's license
- Ability to work on-site for the Summer 2027 term
