About the role#
This summer internship provides exposure to the Macy’s end-to-end supply chain network. You will work directly in a fulfillment center to support operations and process engineering. The role involves identifying ways to streamline distribution and reduce waste. You will own the full lifecycle of your assigned projects, from data collection to final recommendations.
What you'll do#
- Rotate through every function of a supply chain facility to learn operations from the ground up.
- Collect and analyze data regarding workflow efficiency, labor utilization, and equipment performance.
- Collaborate with engineers and operations staff to develop, test, and implement process improvements.
- Document best practices using visual tools like process maps and standard operating procedures.
- Use metrics and key performance indicators to complete an internship project.
- Build relationships with other interns, business leaders, and team members.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite is required. Advanced Excel skills, such as macros, pivot tables, and vlookups, are a plus.
- You must have the physical ability to lift at least 30 lbs, climb ladders, and remain in a stationary position for two or more hours.
- You are comfortable with tasks that involve kneeling, crouching, and reaching above eye level.
- Strong critical thinking and communication skills are essential for analyzing reports and presenting solutions.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid, on-site internship based in Portland, Tennessee.
- The program runs during the Summer 2027 term.
- You must be able to work a flexible schedule based on the needs of the department.
