About the role#
This internship provides exposure to the end-to-end supply chain network at Macy's. You will work within a fulfillment center to support operations and process engineering. The program focuses on identifying ways to streamline workflows, reduce waste, and improve efficiency across distribution systems. You will participate in an 8-week program involving hands-on projects, professional development workshops, and collaboration with senior leaders.
What you'll do#
- Collect and analyze data regarding workflow efficiency, labor utilization, and equipment performance.
- Support the development and testing of process improvements alongside engineers and operations staff.
- Document best practices using visual tools like process maps and standard operating procedures.
- Rotate through different functions of the supply chain facility.
- Utilize analytic tools and metrics to complete an internship project and provide business recommendations.
- Gain experience with order management, transportation management, and warehouse management systems.
- Demonstrate program management skills by overseeing project lifecycles.
- Engage in professional development through workshops and networking with team members and business leaders.
What you'll need#
- Rising Senior status pursuing a bachelor’s degree with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
- Strong mathematical skills and the ability to apply statistical inference.
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite, with advanced Excel skills (vlookup, pivot tables, macros, and advanced formulas) preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and collaborate cross-functionally.
- Physical ability to lift at least 30 lbs, remain in a stationary position for at least two consecutive hours, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb ladders.
- Visual requirements include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
