About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to store leadership, including customer service, merchandising, business analysis, operations, and colleague development. You will work on-site at a Macy's location to learn the complexities of running a multi-million-dollar retail department store. The program runs from June through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership practices.
- Shadow managers in Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product initiatives.
- Engage with leaders across various business functions.
- Coach and develop a team of colleagues to create a customer-focused environment.
- Train colleagues to support and ensure smooth daily store operations.
- Analyze trends to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
- Explore retail strategies by working on the analytical side of the business.
- Complete a project and presentation to propose new ideas for business growth.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect.
What you'll need#
- Junior year student pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited university.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred, and all majors are considered.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- Sincere passion for engaging with people.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to solve problems and drive results.
- Strong business acumen.
