About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to the operations of a retail department store. You will work on-site at our Flushing location to learn about customer service, merchandising, business analysis, and store leadership. The program runs from June through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership practices.
- Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product displays.
- Engage with store leaders across various business functions.
- Develop a customer-focused selling environment by coaching and training team members.
- Analyze trends to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
- Explore retail strategies and work on business growth ideas.
- Complete a project and presentation for store leadership.
- Foster an environment of respect and acceptance for colleagues and customers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a junior in a bachelor's degree program at an accredited university.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred, and all majors are welcome to apply.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A self-motivated approach and a positive attitude.
- A sincere passion for engaging with people.
- Ability to solve problems and drive results.
- Strong business acumen and curiosity about retail.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving about the workplace, reaching, and handling items.
