About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to store leadership, including operations, merchandising, business analysis, and colleague development. You will work on-site at a Macy's location to learn how a retail department store functions. This program serves as a potential pathway to the Store Management Executive Development Program upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership practices and receive regular feedback.
- Shadow managers in operations and visual merchandising to execute product initiatives.
- Coach colleagues to build a customer-focused selling environment and support daily store operations.
- Analyze trends with business partners to select merchandise.
- Review business analytics to understand retail strategies.
- Test and implement new ideas.
- Complete a project and presentation to propose growth strategies to store leadership.
- Foster an environment of respect and acceptance with colleagues and customers.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree at an accredited university.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred, and all majors are welcome to apply.
- You are self-motivated with a positive attitude and a sincere interest in working with people.
- Strong communication and organizational skills are required.
- You are a results-driven problem-solver with business acumen.
- Physical requirements include the ability to sit, talk, hear, and use hands to handle or feel objects. You must be able to occasionally move about the workplace, reach with arms, and utilize close vision.
