About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to the core functions of managing a retail store. You will work on-site at a Macy's location to learn about customer service, merchandising, business analysis, and store operations. The program runs from June through August 2027. Successful completion may lead to an offer for the Store Management Executive Development Program after graduation.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership practices.
- Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product displays.
- Coach and develop team members to maintain a customer-focused selling environment.
- Support daily store operations through training and direct colleague engagement.
- Analyze sales trends to help select merchandise that meets customer needs.
- Explore retail strategies and the analytical side of the business.
- Complete a final project and presentation for store leadership to propose growth ideas.
- Work with leaders across various business functions.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect with colleagues and customers.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a junior pursuing a bachelor's degree. All majors are welcome to apply.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- You are self-motivated, results-driven, and possess a positive attitude.
- You have a sincere passion for engaging with people and strong communication skills.
- You demonstrate strong business acumen and a knack for solving problems.
- You are able to sit, talk, and hear, and occasionally move about the workplace.
