About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to the leadership side of a retail department store. You will work on-site at a Macy's location to learn about customer service, merchandising, business analysis, and store operations. The program runs from June through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership practices.
- Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising.
- Engage with leaders across various business functions.
- Coach and develop a team of colleagues to build a customer-focused selling environment.
- Support daily store operations through staff training.
- Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise.
- Explore retail strategies and the analytical side of the business.
- Complete a project and presentation to propose new ideas for business growth.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect.
What you'll need#
- You are currently a junior working toward a bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred, and all majors are welcome to apply.
- You are self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- You have a sincere passion for engaging with people.
- You are a problem-solver who is driven by results.
- You possess strong business acumen.
- The role requires you to sit, talk, and hear, as well as use your hands to handle or feel objects. You may occasionally need to move around the workplace.
