About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to the core areas of retail leadership. You will work on-site at a Macy's store to learn about customer service, merchandising, business analysis, store operations, and human resources. The program runs from June through August 2027.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership practices.
- Shadow managers in operations and visual merchandising to plan and execute product displays.
- Coach and develop team members to create a customer-focused environment.
- Analyze retail trends and business strategies to select merchandise and support store operations.
- Engage with leadership across various business functions.
- Complete a business growth project and present your findings to store leadership.
- Foster an environment of respect and acceptance for colleagues and customers.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in your junior year of a bachelor's degree program. All majors are welcome to apply.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher is preferred.
- Self-motivation and a positive attitude when facing new challenges.
- A sincere interest in engaging with people.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A results-driven approach to problem-solving.
- Strong business acumen and curiosity about the retail industry.
- Physical ability to perform tasks such as sitting, talking, hearing, and moving about the workplace.
Location & details#
- This position is located in Staten Island, New York.
- The role is full-time and on-site.
- This is a paid internship for the Summer 2027 term.
- Successful completion may lead to a position in the Store Management Executive Development Program after graduation.
