About the role#
This 8-week paid internship provides exposure to the core functions of retail store management. You will work on-site at a Macy's location to learn about customer service, merchandising, business analysis, and store operations. The program runs from June through August 2027 and is designed to help you understand the leadership strategies required to run a multi-million-dollar retail department store.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales and Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices and receive regular feedback.
- Shadow the Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to plan and execute product merchandising initiatives.
- Engage with leaders across various business functions within the store and region.
- Coach and develop a team of colleagues to build a customer-focused selling environment.
- Support daily store operations through training and coaching.
- Analyze business trends with partners to select merchandise that meets customer needs.
- Explore retail strategies by reviewing the analytical side of the business.
- Complete a project and presentation to propose new ideas for business growth to store leadership.
- Build authentic connections with colleagues, customers, and the community.
What you'll need#
- Current junior status working toward a bachelor degree from an accredited university.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA is preferred, though all majors are considered.
- A self-motivated approach and a positive attitude.
- A sincere interest in engaging with people.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A results-driven mindset with the ability to solve problems.
- Strong business acumen.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving about the workplace, reaching, and using hands to handle products.
