About the role#
The Merchandise Planning & Inventory Management Internship is an 8-week program based in New York City. You will work alongside our planning teams to support forecasting, financial planning, inventory optimization, and assortment strategies. This role provides hands-on experience in retail business functions and offers exposure to how data-driven decisions influence overall performance. You will participate in professional development workshops, collaborate on projects, and build relationships with business leaders and fellow interns.
What you'll do#
- Analyze historical sales data, current trends, and market insights to support business recommendations.
- Assist in creating seasonal merchandise plans and assortment strategies with cross-functional teams.
- Monitor inventory levels, sales performance, and sell-through trends to identify risks and opportunities.
- Support the maintenance of merchandise financial plans, including sales, inventory, and margin targets.
- Generate and analyze reports on key performance indicators to track progress against goals.
- Conduct competitive analysis and market research to identify customer trends.
- Participate in special projects and present your findings to leadership teams.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect while supporting business initiatives.
What you'll need#
- You are a rising senior pursuing a bachelor's degree in Business, Merchandising, Retail Management, Finance, Economics, Supply Chain, Data Analytics, or a related field.
- A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred, along with strong academic performance.
- Demonstrated leadership through work, campus involvement, or extracurricular activities.
- Analytical skills with the ability to identify trends, interpret data, and develop actionable recommendations.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, specifically Microsoft Excel including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and basic data analysis.
- Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate across teams and manage multiple priorities.
- Curiosity, a willingness to learn, and the ability to adapt to changing business priorities.
