About the role#
The Macy's Store Management Internship is an 8-week paid, on-site program designed to provide exposure to the operations of a retail department store. Interns work within a store leadership team to learn about customer service, merchandising, business analysis, and team development. This program runs during the summer of 2027 and serves as a potential pathway to the Store Management Executive Development Program upon graduation.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with the Manager of Sales & Customer Experience to learn leadership best practices.
- Shadow Managers of Operations and Visual Merchandising to execute merchandising initiatives.
- Engage with leaders across various business functions.
- Coach colleagues to build a customer-focused selling environment.
- Support daily store operations through training and coaching.
- Analyze business trends to select merchandise and understand retail strategies.
- Propose and implement new ideas for business growth.
- Complete a final project and presentation for store leadership.
- Foster an environment of acceptance and respect for colleagues and customers.
What you'll need#
- Currently in your junior year of an undergraduate degree with all majors considered.
- A cumulative 3.0 GPA minimum is preferred.
- Self-motivated with a positive attitude.
- A sincere passion for engaging with people.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- A problem-solving mindset and a focus on results.
- Strong business acumen.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as moving about the workplace, reaching, and handling merchandise.
