About the role#
The Data Systems Intern supports technology, reporting, and analytics initiatives at Macy's. You will assist with process documentation, project coordination, testing activities, and various data-related projects. This 8-week program offers exposure to the business systems that enable marketing and analytics operations.
What you'll do#
- Document business processes, project requirements, and data definitions.
- Support testing and quality assurance for reporting, analytics, and marketing technology solutions.
- Maintain project documentation, track action items, and monitor progress on operational initiatives.
- Conduct research and basic data analysis to support business questions.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to support system enhancements.
- Assist with operational and project management tasks.
What you'll need#
- Junior standing (rising senior) pursuing a bachelor's degree in any major.
- Strong academic record, with a 3.0 GPA preferred.
- Advanced Excel skills, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and formulas.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- Ability to analyze retail performance metrics like sales, gross margin, inventory productivity, and sell-through.
- Understanding of financial performance metrics, profitability concepts, and statistical analysis.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to organize and prioritize multiple projects independently.
- Demonstrated leadership, teamwork, and relationship management skills.
- Ability to read and interpret instructional documents, such as procedure manuals.
- High aptitude for processing information quickly and attention to detail.
- Ability to work a flexible schedule.
