About the role#
We are looking for an RFIC Design Engineering Intern to join our product development team. You will work on the design and development of Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) using SOI or GaAs technology. You will gain hands-on experience by working with experienced designers through the complete development cycle, from architecture definition and schematic design to physical layout preparation for tapeout.
What you'll do#
- Design and analyze RF integrated circuits, with a primary focus on LNA development.
- Participate in the full design cycle, including concept definition, simulation, and layout.
- Perform circuit simulations such as S-parameter analysis, noise figure optimization, linearity analysis, stability verification, and Monte Carlo analysis.
- Develop and optimize matching networks to meet performance targets for gain, noise figure, power, and linearity.
- Create and review RFIC layouts while following process design rules and best practices.
- Use tools like Keysight Momentum, FEM-based solvers, or Ansys HFSS to perform electromagnetic modeling and simulation of passive structures.
- Correlate EM simulation results with circuit simulations and incorporate extracted models into the design flow.
- Perform layout parasitic extraction and post-layout verification.
- Document your design methodology and share technical findings through design reviews.
- Collaborate with engineers across RFIC, EM modeling, packaging, and validation teams.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
- Experience with Cadence Virtuoso or Keysight ADS.
- Familiarity with EM simulation tools like Keysight Momentum, FEM simulators, or Ansys HFSS.
- Knowledge of passive component modeling, transmission line theory, and electromagnetic effects in integrated circuits.
- Exposure to RFIC design methodologies and CMOS, SOI, or GaAs technologies.
- Understanding of RF measurements and laboratory equipment such as VNAs, spectrum analyzers, and signal generators.
- Programming skills in Python or MATLAB for data analysis and automation.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Lowell, Massachusetts.
- The position is on-site and full-time.
- This is a paid internship with a rolling start date.
- Due to ITAR regulations, this position is open only to U.S. Persons, including U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents, or individuals granted asylum or refugee status.
