About the role#
This is a 12-week internship based in Lowell, Massachusetts. You will join the Process Engineering team to focus on electroplating within a semiconductor wafer fabrication environment. You will work with experienced engineers to optimize plating processes, analyze bath chemistry, and characterize plated films. The goal is to use experimental data to improve process capability, yield, and efficiency.
What you'll do#
- Plan and execute experiments to evaluate plating performance, identify key process variables, and determine process improvements.
- Characterize thickness and deposit quality of plated films.
- Help develop and validate analytical methods to monitor plating-bath composition and condition.
- Organize and analyze experimental results to document methods and conclusions.
- Present your findings to engineering and manufacturing stakeholders.
- Complete a defined project with specific goals, receive training, and participate in an intern webinar series and networking events.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, materials science, chemistry, or a related technical field.
- U.S. citizenship or permanent-resident status, as this work is ITAR-controlled.
- Ability to work in a semiconductor cleanroom and follow all safety, gowning, and chemical-handling procedures.
- Skills in planning experiments, troubleshooting technical problems, and analyzing data.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a manufacturing environment.
- Coursework or research in electrochemistry, electroplating, or materials characterization is preferred.
- Experience with JMP, SQL, Excel, or similar data-analysis tools is a plus.
