About the role#
This summer internship is based at our design center in Northampton, Massachusetts. You will join the mmWave module design team to focus on reliability studies and material qualification for space applications. You will receive mentorship from experienced engineers and work on a defined project with specific goals. The internship includes training, supervision, networking events, and an end of term poster presentation.
What you'll do#
- Research and test new materials for space module applications.
- Perform material simulations and analysis.
- Create test plans and coordinate with internal and external teams for resources.
- Conduct hands-on material testing and analyze results against space standards.
- Document findings in technical reports and design packages.
- Advocate for reliability standards and support customer meetings.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Aerospace, Materials, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Experience with 3D CAD modeling and mechanical design, preferably using SolidWorks.
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T, and tolerance analysis.
- Familiarity with aerospace qualification requirements, material outgassing, and manufacturing processes like machining and fixture design.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design tasks.
- Interest in hardware development, high-reliability electronics, and advanced packaging.
- Preferred experience includes exposure to RF/microwave hardware, electronic packaging, and laboratory testing.
