About the role#
As a Test Engineering Intern at Lunar Outpost, you will support the testing and validation of lunar rovers and spaceflight hardware. You will work alongside full-time engineers on robotic development projects. This role covers the entire testing lifecycle, from initial documentation to hardware fabrication and execution in specialized environments.
What you'll do#
- Write test procedures, plans, and reports that meet aerospace standards.
- Design, build, and assemble test fixtures and custom equipment.
- Execute tests on subsystems and full robotic systems.
- Run tests in Thermal Vacuum (TVAC) chambers and simulant testbeds.
- Analyze test data to verify hardware meets mission requirements.
- Provide feedback to help improve hardware designs.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and software engineering teams.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Aerospace Engineering.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience drafting technical documents like test plans and procedures.
- Hands-on experience with machining, electrical wiring, and shop tools.
- Knowledge of space mission testing concepts, including qualification versus acceptance testing and requirements verification.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and time management skills.
Location & details#
- This is a paid, full-time internship based in Golden, Colorado.
- The term runs from early June 2027 to late August 2027.
- The role is primarily on-site, with a hybrid schedule option on Wednesdays.
- Compensation is $24.00 per hour.
