About the role#
Lunar Outpost is seeking a Business Development Engineering Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work with our strategy team to research, map, and engage opportunities across the U.S. Department of Defense. The role focuses on autonomy, robotics, and dual-use space applications. You will support our go-to-market efforts by identifying mission needs and tracking federal funding opportunities.
What you'll do#
- Conduct research to identify key DoD programs, offices, and specific mission needs.
- Assist in creating go-to-market strategies for autonomous robotics.
- Support the development and submission of proposals and white papers for SBIR/STTR and other federal programs.
- Draft capability briefs, executive summaries, and outreach materials.
- Monitor and analyze RFI/RFPs, funding announcements, and congressional activity.
- Help plan strategic engagement with defense primes, labs, and contracting offices.
- Attend meetings, take notes, and provide strategic readouts to the team.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a graduate or upper-level undergraduate program in engineering, public policy, national security, or business.
- A strong understanding of U.S. defense and national security markets, specifically regarding autonomy and robotics.
- Strong research and analytical capabilities.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with DoD procurement pathways like SBIR, OTAs, and FAR-based contracting is a plus.
- Prior military service or experience working with the DoD is preferred.
- Ability to work with sensitive but unclassified material.
Location & details#
- Location: Golden, Colorado.
- Schedule: This is an on-site, full-time position. You are required to be in the office Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Remote work is available on Wednesdays.
- Term: Summer 2027, from early June to late August.
- Compensation: $24.00 per hour.
