About the role#
Lumen is looking for interns to join our AI & Automation Builders pathway for the Summer 2027 term. This is a paid, 10-week program designed to provide hands-on experience with the infrastructure and technology that powers our network. You will work on real projects that help us build, automate, and improve our digital systems. We value curiosity and a willingness to take ownership of your work.
What you'll do#
- Design, build, test, and enhance software applications and AI-enabled tools.
- Create automated workflows to improve efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Work with cloud platforms, APIs, data integrations, and monitoring tools.
- Evaluate technical requirements and troubleshoot issues to improve performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with technical and business teams to translate problems into scalable solutions.
What you'll need#
- Enrollment at an accredited college or university, with a focus on Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, or related fields.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical-thinking skills.
- Comfort navigating ambiguity and complex technical challenges.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Initiative, adaptability, and a desire to continuously improve solutions.
- A genuine interest in software development, AI, automation, and cloud technologies.

- This is a remote internship.
- The program runs for 10 weeks during the summer of 2027.
- This is a full-time position.
