About the role#
Loureiro Engineering Associates is looking for an Environmental Intern to join our team in Boston. This position offers hands-on experience in environmental assessment, investigation, remediation, and compliance. You will work alongside scientists, geologists, and engineers on real project deliverables. The role involves a mix of fieldwork and office-based technical tasks. Depending on your background, you may focus more on site assessment or engineering and remediation systems.
What you'll do#
- Assist with field investigations and sampling programs for soil, groundwater, surface water, and air.
- Support Phase I Environmental Site Assessments and due diligence activities.
- Document soil borings and help with the installation of groundwater monitoring wells.
- Collect water-level measurements and assist with surveying, aquifer testing, and construction diagrams.
- Support remediation projects, including the operation and maintenance of systems.
- Perform engineering calculations and technical analyses.
- Analyze and interpret environmental data to prepare tables, figures, and technical reports.
- Conduct research on historical records and environmental regulations.
- Assist with permitting, licensing, and proposal development.
- Learn and follow company standard operating procedures and safety practices.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment as a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student.
- Pursuit of a degree in Environmental Science, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.
- Foundational knowledge of environmental science, geology, hydrogeology, chemistry, or engineering principles.
- Strong computer and technical documentation skills.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and terrain, hike, and lift up to 50 pounds.
- A 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification is a plus.
- Prior experience in consulting, fieldwork, or laboratory settings is a plus.
