About the role#
The Community Relations Intern supports programs and activities for Louisiana Blue and the BCBSLA Foundation in Lafayette. You will assist with coordination and promotion efforts while gaining experience in corporate sponsorship and community outreach. This is a paid, part-time position for the Winter 2027 term.
What you'll do#
- Manage event details using Microsoft Excel and handle calendar reminders via Outlook.
- Pull and enter data into the Blackbaud Gifts CRM system.
- Review corporate sponsorship applications by verifying IRS tax status, Secretary of State records, and Guidestar information.
- Coordinate and attend sponsored events, which includes distributing marketing materials and giveaways.
- Assist with physical setup at events, including hauling 10x10 tents and other large items.
- Communicate with nonprofit partners to organize meetings, phone calls, and events.
- Draft monthly emails to recruit volunteers.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor's degree, preferably in Business, Marketing, Communications, Kinesiology, Public Administration, Political Science, Health Promotion, Health Administration, or Public Health.
- A minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8, with 3.0 preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. Experience with Microsoft Access is a plus.
- Strong organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- A self-motivated, team-oriented approach with a willingness to learn.
- Ability to build and maintain internal and external relationships.
