Maintenance Intern

About the role#

Louis Industries is seeking a hands-on Maintenance Intern to support the operations team with routine equipment upkeep, troubleshooting, and automation tasks. This role provides students with experience working with CNC machinery, robotics, and modern manufacturing systems under the guidance of experienced technicians.

What you'll do#

• Assist with basic mechanical repairs, adjustments, and part replacements.
• Help troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, electrical, and automation issues.
• Support maintenance on CNC lasers, press brakes, welders, robots, and automated systems.
• Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks, including cleaning, greasing, and oil or filter changes.
• Assist with equipment setups, tear-downs, moves, and calibration or sensor checks.
• Shadow technicians during diagnostics, repairs, and new equipment installations.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities to support production flow.

What you'll need#

• Currently enrolled in Mechatronics, Industrial Maintenance, Automation Technician, Electrical/Mechanical Technology, or a similar technical program.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and an interest in industrial equipment.
• Familiarity with tools and safety practices, such as HVAC, robotics, pneumatics, or electrical basics.
• Willingness to learn, ask questions, and work hands-on in a manufacturing environment.
• Dependable, safety-focused mindset and the ability to follow instructions.
