You will work alongside mechanical, combustion, controls, and test engineers to guide design decisions and support physical testing. This role involves applying classroom knowledge to technology currently in development for defense, aerospace, and commercial markets.

    What you'll do#

    • Develop and run simulation models for engine performance, thermal, structural, fluid, and system-level analyses.
    • Analyze simulation results to identify performance drivers and design improvements.
    • Compare simulation data against experimental test results to validate and improve models.
    • Work with test engineers to investigate discrepancies between predicted and measured engine behavior.
    • Automate simulation workflows and repetitive engineering tasks.
    • Develop tools for data processing, visualization, and reporting.
    • Work with large datasets to identify trends and communicate engineering insights.
    • Document modeling methods, assumptions, and conclusions for technical reports and design reviews.

    What you'll need#

    • Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field.
    • A solid foundation in engineering fundamentals, including thermodynamics, heat transfer, fluid mechanics, or structural mechanics.
    • Understanding of the fundamental operating principles of internal combustion engines.
    • Experience with engineering simulation software such as ANSYS, MATLAB/Simulink, GT-Power, COMSOL, Abaqus, STAR-CCM+, or Fluent.
    • Programming proficiency in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar languages.
    • Ability to interpret technical data and communicate findings clearly.
    • An analytical mindset with strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
