About the role#
This summer internship provides hands-on experience within the Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) functions at our Shelby Township facility. You will bridge the gap between your academic studies and real-world manufacturing operations. The program includes an immersion day at our corporate headquarters, with travel expenses covered by the company. Interns are paired with a mentor to guide their professional development throughout the term.
What you'll do#
- Manage data for EHS chemical information and Safety Data Sheet (SDS) inventories.
- Support data modeling for life cycle assessments.
- Assist with the Pre-Startup Safety Review Process.
- Draft EHS guidance documents and fact sheets.
- Contribute to sustainability reporting, external disclosures, and internal awareness campaigns.
- Support environmental projects focused on reducing energy, waste, and water usage.
- Participate in safety risk assessments, incident analysis, learning teams, and safety committees.
- Help maintain ISO 9001 and 14001 certification standards.
- Conduct EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
- Develop and implement safety training materials.
- Engage in continuous improvement events.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit or completion of a bachelor's degree.
- A degree in Environmental Science, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Safety Management, Sustainability, Occupational Health and Safety, or Public Health.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Eligibility to work in the U.S. on a full-time, permanent basis without sponsorship.
- An interest in sustainability and EHS fields.
- A desire to work in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
