About the role#
Labcorp is seeking an MLS Student Trainee to join our team in Burlington, North Carolina. This program provides didactic and clinical instruction to prepare students for a career in medical laboratory science. Students will gain experience in various laboratory settings, including hospital and non-hospital environments, while learning the theory behind laboratory practices. The program includes professional development workshops and modules to support career exploration.
What you'll do#
- Attend didactic lectures and complete all coursework in areas such as Clinical Chemistry, Hematology, Microbiology, and Laboratory Operations.
- Complete clinical rotations and assignments in phlebotomy and various laboratory testing areas.
- Demonstrate competency in course materials by obtaining at least 70% on exams and maintaining an overall course grade of 76% or higher.
- Complete supplemental assignments and attend study sessions to prepare for the national certification examination.
- Engage in professional development workshops and modules.
- Optional: Eligible students may perform paid work outside of clinical rotations, assisting with testing and data recording under the supervision of a qualified Medical Laboratory Scientist.
What you'll need#
- Acceptance into the Labcorp School of Medical Laboratory Science.
- Completion of all college or university requirements for a baccalaureate degree.
- A cumulative grade point average of 2.75 is recommended, though individuals with a GPA between 2.50 and 2.75 may apply and will be considered on an individual basis.
