About the role#
As a Manufacturing Engineering Intern, you will support the production of high-reliability electronic hardware for Tactical Satellite equipment. This includes work with surface mount technology solder assembly, mechanical integration, and environmental testing. You will work on-site in a full-time capacity.
What you'll do#
- Establish work instructions and develop process procedures.
- Qualify new tools and equipment while overseeing non-conformance reviews.
- Implement engineering changes and maintain labor standards.
- Assist senior engineers with new product introductions, root-cause investigations, and continuous improvement.
- Design, develop, and transfer manufacturing tools and strategies.
- Interface with cross-functional Integrated Product Teams to oversee product development.
- Estimate manufacturing costs and determine time standards.
- Create assembly routings and maintain records for manufacturing operations.
- Perform economic analyses to address variances in labor and cycle times.
- Attend daily shift huddles and support product line key performance indicators.
What you'll need#
- You are currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, chemical, or industrial engineering, or you have graduated within the last 12 months.
- Experience with soldering or basic electronic manufacturing processes.
- Familiarity with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or Creo.
- Experience with statistical software like Minitab or JMP.
- Lean Six Sigma Yellow or Green Belt certification is preferred.
Location & details#
- Location: Waterdown, Ontario, Canada.
- Work schedule: 9/80 schedule, where you work 80 hours over 9 days and have every other Friday off.
- This is a paid internship.
