IT Intern

About the role#

kW Engineering is seeking an IT Intern to assist with the maintenance of desktop hardware, software, operating systems, and general IT support. This role provides hands-on experience in a professional engineering environment, focusing on daily IT operations, equipment management, and user support.

What you'll do#

• Assist with troubleshooting basic hardware, software, printer, and connectivity issues.
• Support the setup and configuration of desktop computers, laptops, monitors, and mobile devices.
• Help maintain an inventory of installed software, hardware, and IT equipment.
• Assist with software installations, updates, and workstation configurations.
• Support new hire onboarding by preparing laptops, user accounts, and IT equipment.
• Assist with offboarding tasks, including collecting equipment and managing account access.
• Help organize and maintain server rooms, including cable management and labeling.
• Maintain IT documentation, asset records, and internal procedures.
• Assist with monitoring cybersecurity training and phishing awareness activities.
• Support general IT ticket management and collaborate with team members to address daily IT needs.

What you'll need#

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of computer hardware, software, operating systems, and troubleshooting concepts.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365 and Windows environments.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to learn quickly, follow instructions, and manage multiple tasks.
• Willingness to perform hands-on technical and organizational tasks.
