About the role#
The Machinist Intern position offers students a chance to gain hands-on experience in the manufacturing industry while completing their academic programs. You will work directly with our production teams to learn how we solve complex manufacturing challenges.
What you'll do#
- Set up and operate computer numerical controls (CNC) on machining centers to fabricate parts.
- Load parts, cycle machines, and monitor for malfunctions like worn or damaged cutting tools.
- Run production lots and communicate with team members to maintain a clean and safe workspace.
- Inspect machined products and document your results.
- Detect and report defective materials or questionable conditions.
- Analyze production processes and propose solutions to reduce setup and cycle times.
- Assist in other work areas as needed.
What you'll need#
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- Enrollment in a 1st year Machine Tool Technology or Automated Systems & Robotics Program.
- Strong communication skills.
- Competent math skills.
- Mechanical and technical capacity.
Location & details#
- This role is located in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
- This is an on-site, rolling internship.
- This position is part-time, offering 15 to 40 hours per week.
- Hours are flexible to accommodate your school schedule.
- 2nd shift employees are eligible for a 20% shift differential on top of base pay.
