About the role#
This internship focuses on building containerized test harnesses to emulate multi-node distributed systems on a single server. You will work with the team responsible for the software behind semiconductor inspection systems to improve testing efficiency and reduce reliance on expensive, dedicated hardware environments.
What you'll do#
- Extend an existing container-based prototype into a configurable, multi-service test environment.
- Add network delay and fault injection to simulate various system configurations and failure modes.
- Validate your work by reproducing real past defects.
- Integrate the harness into the CI pipeline to automate integration tests on code changes.
- Apply the framework to a larger distributed system to replace dedicated VM environments and measure resource and startup-time savings.
What you'll need#
- Experience with Linux.
- Proficiency in Python or shell scripting.
- Understanding of basic networking concepts.
- Familiarity with Docker or other container tools.
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines.
- Coursework or experience related to distributed systems.
- Pursuit of a degree in Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
