About the role#
KLA is hiring a Mechatronics/Systems Engineering intern for the Summer 2027 term. This role is based in Milpitas, California, and requires full-time, on-site attendance. You will join the Metrology division to work on advanced mechatronics systems, specifically focusing on custom control systems for high-precision wafer stages. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a corporate environment while solving technical problems alongside our engineering teams.
What you'll do#
- Collaborate with design engineers to develop advanced metrology systems.
- Manage projects and conduct data collection and analysis independently.
- Perform hands-on work with hardware in lab or cleanroom settings.
- Use first principles to guide design work and identify gaps in implementation.
- Modify tuning algorithms as needed.
- Present technical analysis and findings to the team in both verbal and written formats.
- Meet project milestones and timelines while ramping up through training and documentation.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Masters or Ph.D. program with a minimum 3.5 GPA.
- Preferred degree fields include electrical, robotics, control systems, mechanical engineering, or data science.
- Experience in at least one of the following: Machine Vision, precision machine design, or Machine Learning.
- Experience in the validation of hardware systems.
