About the role#
The Product Development Engineering Intern will join a multidisciplinary team to develop and support next-generation Critical Dimension (CD) metrology systems. This role focuses on technology evaluation, prototype testing, system performance analysis, and product validation. You will gain exposure to X-ray technology, optics, electronics, mechanics, software, and data analysis while working under the guidance of senior engineers.
What you'll do#
- Assist with prototype and beta system testing, including health checks, calibration, troubleshooting, and data collection.
- Support system characterization and validation to verify performance against engineering requirements.
- Analyze measurement performance and identify trends using data analysis and visualization.
- Contribute to hardware or software development projects.
- Design and execute experiments, document results, and present findings to the team.
- Support root cause investigations and evaluate potential solutions for technical issues.
- Collaborate with systems, mechanical, electrical, software, and algorithm development teams.
- Develop scripts or tools to automate data analysis, testing, or engineering workflows.
- Create technical documentation, reports, and presentations for project outcomes.
- Participate in engineering reviews, team meetings, and technical discussions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Physics, Electrical, Mechanical, Systems, Computer, or Optical Engineering, Materials Science, Applied Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Basic programming experience in Python, MATLAB, C++, or similar languages.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Preferred: Experience with data analysis, visualization, or engineering tools like Git or LabVIEW.
- Preferred: Exposure to optics, imaging systems, X-ray technology, instrumentation, or semiconductor manufacturing.
- Preferred: Hands-on laboratory, research, or project experience involving hardware or experimental systems.
- Preferred: Familiarity with statistical analysis or modeling.
