About the role#
KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking a Graduate Student Mental Health Intern to join the school mental health team for the Fall 2026 term. This role supports students by assessing barriers to their social, emotional, and academic success. You will work under the supervision of an Associate Clinical Social Worker or a Licensed Clinical Social Worker to provide direct services, consult with staff, and connect families to community resources.
What you'll do#
- Provide weekly individual, group, and family counseling.
- Consult with teachers to develop classroom methods that facilitate learning and address social-emotional or behavioral challenges.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary treatment teams to develop daily programming and interventions for student needs.
- Create and implement therapeutic interventions to foster positive learning environments.
- Perform crisis intervention, assessments, and student triage as needed.
- Consult with parents and family members regarding the learning and adjustment processes of children.
- Participate in clinical supervision and professional development meetings.
What you'll need#
- A Bachelor’s degree.
- Current enrollment in a practicum course at an accredited MA, MS, or MSW program.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with diverse groups of people.
- Commitment to adhering to professional ethical standards, laws, and regulations governing school mental health programs.
- Proficiency in English-Spanish, Vietnamese, or Mandarin is desired.
