About the role#
Kiewit is offering a Summer 2027 internship for members of the Kiewit Scholars Program. This full-time, on-site role provides hands-on experience in construction management. You will work directly with our teams to support the construction process, manage project requirements, and ensure safety standards are met on-site.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and resolve technical problems that arise during construction.
- Handle field engineering, operation planning, cost control, project scheduling, and quantity tracking.
- Manage material procurement, contract administration, estimating, and the supervision of field activities.
- Maintain accurate records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements.
- Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate the handling and delivery of materials.
- Investigate reported incidents and recommend practical solutions.
- Plan and schedule specific job segments.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program for civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Active membership in the Kiewit Scholars Program at Colorado School of Mines, Iowa State University, Purdue University, University of Colorado-Boulder, or University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer.
- A valid Driver's License and reliable transportation.
- Ability to travel or relocate as needed.
- Physical ability to freely access all points of a construction site in various climates.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Commitment to ethics, integrity, and safety.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong organization, time management, and attention to detail.
