About the role#
This internship focuses on supporting project accounting and finance functions within the Kiewit Energy District. You will gain exposure to forecast modeling, cash flow analysis, and risk tracking. Each project operates like a small business, and you will learn the cost and revenue components of labor, equipment, materials, and subcontracts.
What you'll do#
- Participate in month-end close processes and help prepare financial reporting packages for project management.
- Gather and analyze financial data to formulate, test, and recommend solutions to management.
- Oversee processes handled by service partners, including payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Understand intercompany and client billing workflows and their impact on cash management.
- Review costs, quantity claiming, budget structures, and exception reports to ensure accurate reporting.
- Identify and adjust forecast and budget issues within cost reports.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a bachelor degree program for Accounting, Finance, Economics, Statistics, or Business Administration.
- A minimum GPA of 3.0.
- Strong analytical and quantitative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- A valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to access all parts of a construction site in various climates and environments.
