About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management. You will learn the day-to-day operations of heavy civil projects, ranging from transportation and roadways to water and power infrastructure. You will work alongside experienced professionals to help manage project progress and field activities.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and resolve technical problems that arise during construction.
- Manage project records, including job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Assist with operation planning, project scheduling, and cost control.
- Review plans and specifications to determine material requirements and pricing.
- Coordinate with suppliers to manage material procurement and delivery.
- Supervise field activities and investigate reported incidents to recommend solutions.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer, typically from May through August.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as project needs require.
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.
- A commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
