About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management. You will work within the Kiewit Offshore Services district in Ingleside, Texas. The role focuses on the practical skills required for a career in the construction industry. You will participate in field operations and learn how to manage complex projects from start to finish.
What you'll do#
- Perform field engineering tasks and supervise field activities.
- Assist with operation planning, project scheduling, and cost control.
- Track quantities and maintain records regarding job progress, costs, and material usage.
- Review project plans and specifications to determine material requirements.
- Handle material procurement, including pricing and working with suppliers to expedite deliveries.
- Investigate reported incidents and identify potential solutions.
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques and resolve minor technical problems.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate program for civil engineering, construction management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer, typically from May through August.
- Capacity to travel or relocate as needed.
- Ability to access all areas of a construction site across various climates and environments.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management capabilities.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team or independently.
- Commitment to safety, ethics, and integrity.
- Ability to work overtime and weekends when required.
