About the role#
As a Field Engineer Intern with the MEC Transportation District, you will gain hands-on experience in both office and field operations. You will work on the front lines of major transportation projects, supporting our team in signal systems, overhead contact systems, and traction power. You will report directly to a Field Engineer or Project Engineer and collaborate with crews and office staff to support project goals.
What you'll do#
- Manage project documentation and shop drawings.
- Assist with submittals, schedules, and take offs.
- Support the processing of pay requests and contract changes.
- Coordinate with field crews and office personnel to maintain project progress.
What you'll need#
- Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or construction management.
- Strong work ethic and willingness to work over 40 hours per week.
- Ability to travel and relocate as business requires.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Ability to work in the United States without sponsorship.
- Commitment to safety and integrity on the job site.
- Capacity to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong organization, time management, and communication skills.
- Experience with leadership is an asset, as is previous work on infrastructure or heavy civil projects.

- Term: Summer 2027.
- Modality: On-site.
- Employment: Full-time internship.
- Locations: Dallas, TX; California; Oregon; and Washington, DC. Final assignment locations are determined closer to the start date.
