About the role#
This internship provides hands-on experience in construction management. You will participate in field operations and learn the core functions required for a career in the construction industry. You will work on projects such as mass grading, drainage, paving, and utility work within the South Central District.
What you'll do#
- Perform engineering tasks using standard techniques to solve technical problems on site.
- Manage project scheduling, cost control, and quantity tracking.
- Assist with material procurement, including reviewing plans to determine requirements and coordinating with suppliers to expedite deliveries.
- Maintain accurate records regarding job progress, material usage, and costs.
- Supervise field activities and assist in planning specific job segments.
- Investigate incidents or site problems and recommend solutions.
- Handle contract administration duties.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in an undergraduate or graduate degree program for Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Ability to work full-time during the summer months, typically May through August.
- Willingness to travel or relocate as project needs require.
- Physical ability to access all areas of a construction site in various climates and environments.
- Strong organizational and time management skills with an attention to detail.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- A commitment to safety and high ethical standards.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team to meet project goals.
Location & details#
- This is a full-time, paid internship for Summer 2027.
- The role is based on-site. The home office is in Westlake, Texas, though work may occur at various locations across the region.
