About the role#
Kiewit Power Engineering is hiring a Civil/Transmission Line Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will join our design team to support transmission and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. This role focuses on the application of engineering principles to support both detailed design and Engineer, Procure, Construct projects.
What you'll do#
- Create design documents, drawings, and bills of materials for transmission projects.
- Generate design criteria and build, modify, or analyze models for lines, poles, and towers using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-TOWER software.
- Develop construction assembly drawings, material specifications, and structure loading packages.
- Apply field mark-ups to as-built drawings and use the company document management system.
- Coordinate project activities with project engineers, customers, and other stakeholders.
- Review project schedules to ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify potential project problems and suggest solutions.
- Apply corporate standard engineering practices and take responsibility for the quality and accuracy of your work.
What you'll need#
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals, per-unit mathematics, and symmetrical components.
- Understanding of engineering standards such as NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Proficiency with common word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with co-workers and clients.
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and perform work safely.
- Regular, reliable attendance and the ability to work overtime and weekends if required.
