About the role#
Kiewit Power Engineering is hiring a Civil/Transmission Line Engineer Intern for the Summer 2027 term. You will work on substation, transmission, and distribution projects ranging from 12kV to 500kV. This role supports both detailed design and Engineer, Procure, Construct (EPC) projects. You will work alongside design professionals to apply engineering principles to real-world infrastructure.
What you'll do#
- Create design documents and drawings, including transmission line design criteria for PLS-CADD.
- Build, modify, and analyze transmission line, pole, and tower models using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS TOWER.
- Generate bills of materials and apply field mark-ups of as-built drawings.
- Develop construction assembly drawings, material specifications, and structure loading packages.
- Review project schedules and coordinate activities with project engineers and customer representatives.
What you'll need#
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
- A 3.0 cumulative GPA is preferred.
- Basic knowledge of AC/DC fundamentals.
- Understanding of engineering standards, including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE, and ANSI.
- Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, and email software.
