About the role#
Keros Therapeutics is hiring a Research Associate Co-Op to join the Protein Biochemistry team. This is a hands-on laboratory position where you will support early-stage drug discovery by generating high-quality proteins and reagents. You will work on the biochemical, biophysical, and structural properties of the TGF-beta superfamily. The role involves collaborating across departments to support in vivo and in vitro research programs.
What you'll do#
- Purify proteins using FPLC, affinity, ion-exchange, and size-exclusion chromatography.
- Perform characterization techniques, including SDS-PAGE, analytical SEC, and BLI assays.
- Assist with routine mammalian expression of therapeutic molecules.
- Assess novel drug candidates through transient expression using CHO and HEK cells.
- Establish stable cell lines for new drug candidates.
- Maintain accurate documentation of all experimental and computational work.
- Summarize research results in study reports and provide updates during team meetings.
What you'll need#
- Active enrollment in a master’s program in biochemistry, structural biology, chemistry, or a related discipline for the duration of the co-op.
- Experience with wet lab benchwork, including pipetting, volumetric handling, and lab etiquette.
- Proficiency in chemical stoichiometric calculations and buffer preparation.
- Ability to work independently with supervision and as part of a cross-functional team.
- Strong communication, organization, and attention to detail.
- Skills in MS Office, data analysis, and slide presentations.
- Experience with protein purification, biophysical characterization, protein-protein interactions, or protein engineering is preferred.
- Experience with mammalian or bacterial cell expression and previous internship or co-op experience is a plus.

- This position is based in Lexington, Massachusetts.
- The role is on-site and full-time.
- This is a paid position with a potential base pay range of $28 to $32 per hour.
