About the role#
The Summer 2027 Internship at Keiter CPAs provides students with hands-on experience in both Audit and Tax departments. This full-time, paid position allows interns to work on real client engagements, participate in firm events, and gain a realistic preview of a career in public accounting. Interns will rotate through departments and work closely with a Performance Coach and a Buddy to receive ongoing feedback.
What you'll do#
- Assist on audit engagements across multiple industries, including for-profit, nonprofit, and benefit plan clients.
- Perform audit testing procedures such as cash, payroll, investment, and compliance testing.
- Prepare and update audit documentation and workpapers.
- Prepare and assist with individual and business tax returns, including inputting and reconciling K-1s, trial balances, and fixed assets.
- Assist with book-to-tax reconciliations and clearing review points.
- Conduct basic tax research and contribute to internal or external tax content.
What you'll need#
- Completion of at least one semester of an intermediate-level accounting class.
- Enrollment in a bachelor or master degree program in accounting or accounting systems.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and other computer skills.
- A detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and collaborative mindset.
- An interest in pursuing a career in public accounting and sitting for the CPA exam.

- Location: Glen Allen, Virginia.
- Work Modality: On-site.
- Schedule: Monday through Thursday.
- Compensation: $30.00 to $32.50 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
