About the role#
Jo-Kell is looking for an Engineering Intern to join our electrical panel shop in Pompano Beach. This hands-on role is for students or early-career individuals interested in electrical technology, industrial systems, or related technical fields. You will work alongside our engineering and production teams to gain practical experience with custom electrical control panels. This is a technical position focused on assembly, wiring, testing, and troubleshooting.
What you'll do#
- Assist with the assembly and wiring of custom electrical control panels.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical drawings.
- Perform point-to-point wiring, component installation, and electrical terminations.
- Help with panel layout, assembly, testing, and quality inspections.
- Develop basic troubleshooting skills for wiring and component issues.
- Verify completed assemblies against engineering drawings and specifications.
- Work with team members to understand the product design process.
- Safely use common hand and power tools.
- Maintain an organized and safe work area.
- Support other engineering and panel shop activities.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a technical education program in electrical technology, engineering technology, or industrial maintenance.
- Basic understanding of electrical principles.
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude.
- Interest in learning to read electrical schematics and technical drawings.
- Comfort using or a willingness to learn common hand and power tools.
- Strong attention to detail.
- A curious and dependable nature, with a willingness to accept instruction.
- The ability to follow directions while working toward independence.
- The ability to work effectively with engineers and technicians.
Location & details#
- Location: Pompano Beach, Florida.
- Modality: On-site.
- Compensation: $18 per hour.
- Duration: 4 to 12 weeks, based on performance and business needs.
- Commitment: Minimum of 96 hours per four-week period, approximately 24 hours per week.
- Schedule: Generally Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with flexibility for school schedules.
