About the role#
Jensen Hughes is hiring interns for the Fire Protection Engineering department. This role involves working on life safety, fire protection, security, and mass notification projects for commercial, institutional, and industrial clients. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Develop, modify, and review drawings of systems or components.
- Create plans, specifications, and inspection reports.
- Assist with technical design problems, including field investigations and design computations.
- Coordinate specific design aspects within projects.
- Identify and reference applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct and document building code, egress, fire alarm, smoke control, and sprinkler system analyses.
- Perform basic calculations for building areas, water supplies, and egress requirements.
- Communicate project status to team members and clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program or higher in Computer, Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
- Knowledge of engineering principles or construction technology.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, journals, and government regulations.
- Intermediate skills in written and oral communication.
- Capability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Intermediate computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and routine database tasks.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
- A self-starter mindset with strong reasoning skills.
