About the role#
Jensen Hughes is hiring interns for our Fire Protection Engineering department. You will join a team providing professional services for life safety, fire protection, and security on commercial, institutional, and industrial projects. This is a full-time, paid internship.
What you'll do#
- Develop, modify, and review drawings of systems or components.
- Create plans, specifications, and inspection reports.
- Assist in solving design problems, including performing field investigations or inspections.
- Check design computations completed by others.
- Coordinate specific design aspects within a project.
- Identify and reference applicable codes and standards.
- Conduct building code, egress, fire detection, alarm, smoke control, and sprinkler system reviews.
- Perform basic calculations for egress, building area, water supplies, and smoke control equipment.
- Communicate project information to team members and clients.
What you'll need#
- Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program or higher in engineering.
- Knowledge of engineering principles or construction technology.
- Ability to read and interpret technical procedures, journals, and regulations.
- Intermediate written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency with personal computer tools, including word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
- Capability to solve practical problems with limited standardization.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks at the same time.
